The Great China Wall – Facts & Features
The construction of the Great Wall in Beijing took place during the rule of Ming Dynasty and happens to be widely visited by the tourists. It is 373 miles in length and on the way there are 827 City Wall platforms, 71 passes and there are numerous towers.
The structure of the Great wall is comprised of massive bar-stones along with bricks. The inner side of the wall has been made by earth and small stones tempering as a result of which the wall structure is very strong ad firm.
The wall is has a width of nearly six meters, it has capacity of 5 horses running on it in unison.
This has the highly strong military fortification done to serve the purpose of protection in all respects.
The Great Wall of China represents Chinese Civilization and has been recognized among the greatest wonders of the world. It has similarity with Gigantic Dragon in appearance and moves along in the terrain of deserts, grasslands, mountains and plateaus present in its way. It has a total length of nearly 8,851.8 kilometers covering east to west region of China.
It carries with it history of greater than 2000 years, some parts of it are in ruinous state or totally disappeared.
Even in spite of such a state, it attracts great attraction from all over the world considering the architectural grandeur and historical importance attached with it.
China Great wall begins from Hushan situated in Liaoning in the east and ending at Jiayuguan pass located at Gansu west. On the way there are nine provinces named including Liaoning, Hebei, Beijing, Tianjin, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia and Gansu.
It took 20 of the states and Dynasties in the construction of the Great China Wall.
Although in the past it was built from military point of view to provide protection from rebellious tribal attacks during the past history of China. Now it has been thrown open to public and tourists.
On the way of Great Wall of China is a place called Badaling, which has become highly famous. It is located in Yanqing County, more than 70 kilo meters towards north of Beijing and is highly preserved portion of the Great Wall
Moreover it forms the true representative part of Great wall and was given promotion as an object of national cultural relic, and got protected status with the grant of approval of the State Council during1961. During 1988, it got enlisted as the World Cultural Heritage Directory by UNESCO. Once again it achieved worldwide reputation by being listed in the New Seven Wonders of the World.
Most of the visitors come to this place from domestic locations and foreign country tourists.
On its way Mutianyu has become famous due to wonderful scenic spots it offers. Jinshanling and Simatai are famous for wild life. Jiankou is a place which is attraction of adventurists.
